North Chile

The genus Copiapoa is restricted to the costal fringe regions of Chile between latitudes 22-30, for about 800 km.To the west is the Pacific Ocean where Copiapoas can be found, To the east where fog and cold air flow are some more distributions. The majority can be found to the costal mountains, and along the valley through the costal hills up to 20 km in land. To the north, the driest region of the Atacama desert, can be found as well, but are under severe stress. The reason for a must Trip to Chile.

5 000 plant species in 51 000 square kilometres.

Oddly enough most Karoo succulents are intolerant of sun and frost.

Floating Market

Well on the tourist trail, a trip to the Damnoen Saduak floating market is still worth doing. Totally chaotic, small 'khlongs' or canals are filled with flat boats piled high with fresh produce, each jockeying for position and paddled by ladies ready to stop and bargain at a moment’s notice. It's colourful, noisy, touristic but great fun. During the long-tail boat ride to market, you’ll pass orchards, traditional teak houses and local people going about their lives.
